The 2026 Irish Sailing Foundation Youth National Championships promise to be a highlight of the youth sailing calendar when they are hosted by Ballyholme Yacht Club in County Down from 9 – 12 April 2026.

This event, one of the premier competitive regattas for young sailors in Ireland, brings together talented sailors in their early to late teens from across the country, all vying for national honours across a variety of junior dinghy classes and disciplines. Set against the stunning backdrop of Belfast Lough, Ballyholme Yacht Club’s waters offer a challenging and scenic racing arena where competitors will have to demonstrate strong boat-handling, tactical awareness and resilience in the fresh spring breezes that can sweep the lough.

As an invitation-based championship, the event not only showcases the next generation of Irish sailing talent but also provides a crucial stepping stone for those looking to progress to international competition, building on the strong tradition of youth development in Irish Sailing.

Beyond the racing itself, the championships are a celebration of youth sport and community, drawing together sailors, coaches, families and volunteers in a vibrant gathering that reflects both the competitive spirit and camaraderie of sailing.

With Ballyholme’s long history of hosting high-calibre events and nurturing young sailors from novice to national class, the 2026 championships are set to be a memorable and formative experience for all involved, reinforcing the club’s reputation as a cornerstone of Irish youth sailing development.
